Paige Totta, Library Aide
The goal of the Library Media Specialist in the Louisburg #416 schools is to insure that students and staff are effective users of information. This goal will be accomplished by providing access to the best materials available and teaching students and staff how to use and evaluate that information. The Library Media Specialists will work cooperatively with other teachers to create authentic learning experiences for students so they can experience many carefully planned opportunities to access, use and evaluate information in all subject areas and if all formats.
BES Wildcats LOVE to READ!
Our library is the center of our school! From our annual Book Fair in November to Family Fun Nights! There's always something to learn and do at the BES Library!
What is AR?
The Accelerated Reading program (AR) is a program that Rockville Elementary, Broadmoor Elementary and Louisburg Middle School uses to encourage students to READ! Books in our libraries have designated reading levels and points assigned to comprehension quizzes. When a student finishes a book, he or she can then take a quiz over the contents of that book. This practice helps students bridge their comprehension and reading skills from the early stages of 'learning to read' to the advanced stages of 'reading to learn.' Students set goals each quarter and the teachers and parents help support in each student reaching that goal!
How Do I Know if My Child's Book in an AR Book?
You can easily look up books to determine the reading level and if there is a quiz for that particular book using the AR Bookfinder website! The local Louisburg Library also has resources available if you are checking out books there as well!
