January 2021

Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  I hope each of our Wildcat Families were able to have an enjoyable and relaxing Holiday!  With a new year comes new hopes and dreams for each of our students that we serve.  I hope, with your help and support, we are able to make many of these hopes and dreams materialize in 2021!  Starting a new year always allows each student to think of areas that they can improve upon for the new semester.  As a district, our number one hope and dream is to stay in school the entire 2nd semester and fulfill our mission statement of educating each student in a safe and nurturing environment!  I am proud we were able to accomplish these goals 1st semester and look forward to achieving them 2nd semester as well!

As a reminder, our 2nd semester will begin on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.  Monday, January 4th is a teacher work day so staff can prepare for the second semester.  Also, there will be no school on January 18th to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  As you know, January is also when we can encounter some inclement weather days.  If we call school all for weather, we will inform you as soon as possible.  Also, our inclement weather days this year will be a “traditional snow day!”  We will not have teachers teaching and students learning remotely.

In the next few months, we will be working with our design team to start tackling a few of the bond projects.  We want to be deliberate in our planning to leverage the best pricing and scope of work from contractors.  As we develop a project timeline, we will keep things updated on our website, under our “Bond 2020” tab.  We hope to be doing some of the projects this upcoming summer!  Some of the early projects we want to move forward on include:  a new ADA playground at Rockville, roof replacements, remodel of Circle Grove and the high wind shelter at Louisburg Middle School.  These projects, and many others, will help us enhance the learning and teaching environment for our students and staff for many years to come!

Go Wildcats!!
