November 2020

Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family,

Is it Summer, Fall or Winter?  In Kansas, you can never tell!  I love a beautiful Fall day so I hope we can have a few more before winter sets in.  We have posted our inclement weather information on our webpage.  As you know, the Kansas weather can be very tricky and unpredictable.  A lot of conversation and thought goes into deciding the best decision to have school or cancel school for the day.  As the parent of your child, you should always make the final decision if you believe it is safe for your child to travel to school on a day where the weather may not be the best.  When we do call off school, we try to make the call as early as possible.  Sometimes, we are not able to decide the evening before.  If we have to make the decision in the morning, we will try to get the information out to you as quick as possible.  We appreciate your understanding and support during inclement weather days.

As a district, we continue to navigate through COVID-19 as well as possible.  Our safety measures continue to keep our students and staff safe.  By adhering to all of our safety procedures and policies, we will reduce the amount of positive transmission and quarantines.  I am excited that we were able to finish our Fall activities without any more quarantines.  It will be important, as we head into our winter activities, that all students and guests abide by our safety measures.  If we are “All in this together”, we will get through the upcoming season and be successful in and out of the classroom setting.

November and December are two months that always seem to fly by.  If your child is struggling with any class, or has a low grade, please contact your child’s teacher and/or principal.  December 18th (the last day of the 1st semester) will be here before we know it.  We don’t want to find out about a concern before it is too late to address.  With the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season, these things are sometimes overlooked.  If there is anything that our staff and schools can help your child with, please let us know as we partner together for the betterment of each child.

Go Wildcats!!
