January 2020 Superintendent Newsletter
Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family,
I hope each student and family had an enjoyable Winter Break! It is always nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of everything for a few weeks. Before we know it, we will be at Spring Break and the end of the school year! I hope that all of our students are ready to go for the 2nd semester. School will begin on January 6, 2020. I know school and outside activities will pick up quickly and the fast-paced life we all live will resume! As a reminder, school will not be in session on Monday, January 20, 2020, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. We will have to continue to watch the weather throughout the winter months. I was hoping we could make it to Winter Break without a snow day. We almost made it, but Mother Nature wanted to reward the kids with a couple of snow days before the break! As always, we strive to make the best decision regarding school and student safety. No two storms are alike! Once we make a decision, we work to get the information out as soon as possible so you have as much notice for a cancellation as possible.
At the December 2019 Board of Education meeting, the board approved the 2020-2021 calendar, as well as made a slight adjustment to the current 2019-2020 school calendar. For the current school year, a full professional development day for staff was added the Monday after Spring Break, March 23rd. Students will not attend school on March 23, 2020. 4th quarter will resume on Tuesday, March 24th. Both of these calendars can be found on our webpage. Please click on the calendar link to access both approved calendars.
As we enter the year 2020, I encourage all students to think of a New Year’s Resolution for the upcoming year. When we think of 2020, we usually think of ‘perfect vision’. The student’s resolution for 2020 doesn’t have to be perfect, but it should be an area that they want to improve upon for the upcoming academic year. As a school district, we are always striving to help each student meet goals along their journey in our district. Your support is always critical in the success of this mission.
