October 2019 Superintendent Letter
Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family,
As we enter into Fall, I am anxiously awaiting the awesome Fall days we can experience this time of year! I hope we are able to enjoy some nice Fall days before winter comes barreling down on us! You always have to love the weather in Kansas…..never a dull weather moment! I imagine the students are hoping for a repeat of last winter, but let’s hope for a few less days off from school this upcoming winter!
With the end of the First Quarter closing in on us, I want to remind everyone of our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences. Conferences will be held on October 9th and 10th at the different buildings. Please check your child’s school calendar to see dates and times for the conferences. If you are unable to attend and would like to meet with a teacher, please contact them to set up a mutual time that works in your schedules. We know how important it is to have you as a partner in each of our student’s education. Your input and support of your child’s learning process is always appreciated.
You may have heard that the district is exploring a bond issue. The current bonds, that were passed in 2006, will be paid off in the near future. This has allowed the district to explore needed facility improvements across the district with not increasing the current mill rate in the bond levy fund. The school district has capacity to grow in all the buildings so the bond issue will not include a new school as the previous bonds included. The bond will include technology upgrades, security and safety enhancements, efficiency (roofs, windows, doors, HVAC, etc.) improvements, enhancements on teaching and learning spaces, and various other projects across our school district that will keep our educational facilities in great shape for the considerable future. This bond will help us protect and enhance the commitment by the community to provide our students and staff excellent facilities to teach and learn in on a daily basis. There will be much more information about the upcoming bond projects in the months ahead.
