2018-2019 USD #416 Endowment Association Grant Winners!
Congratulations to the 2018-2019 USD #416 Endowment Association Grant Winners!
Sara McIntire- $1000 Grant Recipient
Sara’s grant will be used for a Sensory Path placed in the hallway at Rockville Elementary School. This will give the students the opportunity to engage in a series of fine and gross motor movements that build connections within the brain to help children stay calm and regulate their bodies effectively. This allows students to enter the classroom learning environment with increased focus, cognitive functioning, self-regulation skills and decreased sensory seeking behaviors.
Stacy Koesser-$1000 Grant Recipient
Stacy will be using her grant for purchasing Edison Programmable V2.O Robots. The robots will allow students to learn basic programming skills to help get their robot through a designated course. Along with teaching the students teamwork as that is an integral part of being a scientist and engineer.
Kassy Miller- $500 Grant Recipient
Kassy will be using her grant to purchase a variety of targeted language books and texts to create a Spanish classroom library. It is proven that repeated input in the foreign language is the best way to acquire the language, but input must be offered in forms that interest the learner. With the purchase of small novels, readers, comic books and other forms of text the classroom library will be an important bridge to authentic learning and student interest.
Kim Perentis- $500 Grant Recipient
Kim’s grant will be used to purchase items to work with students that are overly-sensitive and have found sensory information to be overwhelming. With a Yogibo Mini Bean bag, weighted blanket, Bilibo chairs and circular boards for the gym these items will help students focus on learning, stay calm and feel more comfortable in the classroom.
