August 2018 Superintendent Newsletter
Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family,
Each year, the summer seems to fly by as I begin to write my August newsletter. This summer was no different as we had a plethora of projects going on across the district. I am happy to report that all of the summer projects are completed and ready for school! Many of the summer projects evolved around facility, parking and traffic flow updates. We also constructed a new playground at Broadmoor and Circle Grove. Furthermore, new lighting was installed throughout the school district. Safety enhancements were made in all buildings during the summer. Some of the safety features include more cameras, secure access to our buildings, and door armors on each classroom door. We know the importance of school safety. I believe our continued security enhancement measures should provide the added protection our children need when they are in our schools.
August will have many different activities leading up to school. Please refer to the link on our webpage entitled, “Important Upcoming Dates” for detailed information. Also, please check school calendars. Schools will also be communicating through Skyward on important upcoming events. As always, if you ever have a question about an upcoming event, please contact your child’s school. The first day of school for all 6th and 9th graders will be on Wednesday, August 15th. The first day of school for K-12 is on Thursday, August 16th. We welcome our little Wildcats at Circle Grove Preschool on Monday, August 20th.
I hope you and your children share my excitement for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. Together, I know we can do great things in our community. Your positive partnership of our school district throughout the school year is critical to the success of each learning experience. I wish each of our students and families an enjoyable and exciting school year!
