April 2018 Superintendent Newsletter

April 2018

Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family, I hope all families and students enjoyed their Spring Break and are back in the swing of things for the 4th quarter. As always, the 4th quarter will fly by, and it will be May 23rd before we know it! I ask that you continue to support your children with their studies until the end of school. As a father, I know my kids see the end is near and it is tough to keep them motivated until the end. Your help with this support is greatly appreciated!

We continue to move forward with various construction projects around the district. Most notably, is the work around Broadmoor Elementary. I appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through the construction process. Similar to the downtown project, and the 4-way traffic stop, it is a slight pain during construction, but it will be GREAT once completed! The BES projects include the following: dedicated pick up and drop off lane, new exit to Metcalf, additional parking, new lighting, new sewer line and a new playground. Additional projects include: new concession stand and restrooms for the soccer stadium and visiting team at football games, additional parking at LHS, new playground at Circle Grove, new lights at the football stadium, new lights around the district, and several other smaller projects across the district. We are hopeful that all of these new facility improvements will continue to help our school district provide the very best education to each of your children. As stated before, I appreciate your patience and understanding during the construction phases. With a little bit of luck and good weather, we are hopeful to be completed with all projects when school begins in August.

Be sure to note that we do not have school on Wednesday, April 18th. Our school district is hosting a large music and band festival on that day. Schools from all over Eastern Kansas will perform at the high school and middle school. This event is open to the public and all of you are invited to attend this free event.

Go Wildcats!
