February 2018 Superintendent Newsletter
Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family,
We have had to deal with some cold, wintry weather in January. We will see what February has in store for us! I strive to make the best decision possible when it comes to inclement weather days. It is one of the most difficult decisions I have to make. I always want to make sure each student is safe on the way to school and back home. I watch many forecasts, consult with other area superintendents and visit with our maintenance and transportation staff before making a decision. As you know, our weather is so tricky to predict, which makes the job that much more difficult. I appreciate your support regarding inclement weather days. As I have stated before, parents will always have the final say on whether they believe their child should attend school or not.
Despite the weather delays, I hope each student has settled into a productive and positive
routine for 2nd semester. If you notice concerns, please contact the school staff so a game
plan can be worked on for great student success. We don’t have parent-teacher
conferences 2nd semester so please communicate with staff if you would like to meet. As
another reminder, there is no school on Monday, February 19th, as we celebrate Presidents’
Day. Also, as another reminder, the 2018-2019 school calendar has been approved. You
can locate a copy of it on our website.
Enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year is just around the corner. In the upcoming
weeks, you will be getting information from the middle and high school about the
enrollment process. We strive to staff the courses that students sign up during the
enrollment process. If you or your child has questions about a class, etc., please contact the
offices so staff can help answer your questions before enrollment time.
I wish every student a great 2nd semester!
Dr. Brian R. Biermann
