March 2017 Superintendent Newsletter
March 1, 2017
Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family,
Wow! How about the weather we had in February??!! For most of February, it felt more like April than February! I imagine the Kansas weather will turn again on us, but I will take every beautiful day we can get! I hope you have had time to enjoy some of the days with your family.
As we turn our attention towards March, most students’ turn their attention to Spring Break. We will be out of school on Friday, March 17th. We will return to school on Monday, March 27th. I wish each student and family an enjoyable and restful Spring Break. I ask that you continue to push and encourage your children until March 16th. With eyes on the 17th , students can begin to lose focus. We need to make sure students are focused on learning until the break arrives. Furthermore, when students come back after break, we will need a dedicated focus during 4th quarter. Sometimes, grades and behavior start to lag a little during the 4th quarter. With proactive support and strong communication, the school and home can get every child successfully through the end of the school year!
I know enrollment has started at the high school. The middle school enrollment will begin after Spring Break. Please visit with your child about classes they wish to take for next year. Ask them about their future? Do they have any idea what they might want to be ‘when they grow up?’ It is okay if they do not know, but we want to strive to offer classes that will prepare them for their future. If you have any questions about classes, or the enrollment process, please contact your child’s school for support and/or clarification.
Once again, I wish each student and family a wonderful Spring Break! I applaud the effort that each student, family and staff member has put into the learning process this year! We are great because of the positive partnerships we have with each other!
