January 2017 Superintendent Newsletter
January 1, 2017
Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family,
Happy New Year! I sincerely hope the 2017 year brings many great and exciting things to each student in our district. There will be challenges along the way, but I know with your positive partnership with our school staff, we can make it through the year! I hope each family had a wonderful holiday break. Family time is so important to each of us!
Our 2nd semester resumes on Wednesday, January 4th. The district will also be closed on Monday, January 16th, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. January is usually the coldest month of the year for Kansas. I encourage you to keep your children as warm as possible as they dress for school. It is important that each child is prepared for the cold weather that can occur in January.
As the 2nd semester begins, I challenge each student to set several New Year’s Resolutions, or school goals. They don’t have to be monumental goals. I would ask that each student reflect on his or her 1 st semester and think of several goals he or she believes they can work on between now and May. Is it attendance? Behavior? Being nice to a classmate? Academics? In schools, we have the great opportunity to ‘start over’ each semester. Whatever the goal is, I hope each student is able to attain their goals and have a successful 2nd semester. We know that it will fly by and summer will get here before we know it!
I look forward to supporting each student as the 2nd semester gears up. I enjoy my school and classroom visits throughout the year. I also enjoy seeing our students perform in the various activities we have during the school year. I encourage our students to strive to be the very best they can! If they work on this goal, we will have an awesome year!
Go Wildcats and Happy 2017!
