December 2016 Superintendent Newsletter
December 1, 2016
Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family,
In case your kids haven’t reminded you, we have 14 days of school until Winter Break! As I told you in my November newsletter, this time of year flies by! Please check the school calendars and announcements for upcoming events. I know my calendar is full of concerts, games and other fun district events. The last day of the semester is Tuesday, December 20th. School will be dismissed at 11 am on Tuesday, December 20th. Even though the first half of the year is almost upon us, I encourage you to support and push your children until the very end. It is very easy for children to get distracted this time of year, but I want to make sure they are still focused on academics until December 20th .
The second semester will begin for students on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Once again, please check the school calendar and announcements for second semester information. We should have our 2017-2018 calendar published soon. The plan is to have the board of education review and approve the calendar on Monday, December 12th. Once approved, we will publish it on our website so families can plan ahead. With our busy schedules, planning ahead is very important!
As the first semester winds down, I sincerely hope it has been a positive experience for each child. I know there can be ‘bumps in the road’, but I hope each student has a positive support structure to make it through any detours. My wish is that each of you and your families have a wonderful holiday season. Enjoy time together. Enjoy time away from school and/or work. Sometimes, it is the little things in life that mean the most. Try to slow down and enjoy time with the people in your life that mean the most to you. Thanks for your continued support of our school district and community.
Go Wildcats and Happy Holidays!
