October 2016 Superintendent Newsletter
October 1, 2016
Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family,
If you are like me, you look forward to the cooler days and evenings of Fall. This has been an interesting year in regards to weather. I don’t know if this means the winter will be crazy or not! I guess we always need to remember that we live in Kansas and no two days are alike!
As we draw closer to the end of the 1st quarter, I want to call your attention to our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences. Conferences will be held from noon to 8 pm on Thursday, October 13th. The conferences will be scheduled at the elementary schools. At the middle school and high school, feel free to show up when it works with your schedule to see the teachers. If you are unable to attend, or unable to see a teacher, please communicate with the teacher and/or principal. Also, if you felt like you didn’t have enough time, or your concerns were not addressed, please feel free to schedule another meeting as well. With conferences and teacher professional development, there is no school on 10/13, 10/14 and 10/17. School and the second quarter resume on Tuesday, October 18th.
I have enjoyed getting out in the buildings and interacting with the students. The teachers are doing an amazing job teaching and our students are awesome learners! One of the best parts of my job is getting into the classrooms at all levels! I enjoy seeing great learning taking place and having conversations with the kids. We have some special people in our buildings across the district!
I hope 1st quarter was a rewarding experience for each student. I also hope that the 2nd quarter will be equally rewarding. With holiday celebrations and observances during the 2nd quarter, it will go by fast. December 20th will be here before we know it!
