February 2016

Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family,

I hope the month of January was a month that allowed each student to find their groove that will propel them through the second semester! As always, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher and/or principal if you feel like some extra support or communication is needed. The district does not have spring parent-teacher conferences, but our teachers are always willing to schedule a time to meet with parents to discuss any concerns you may have. The earlier we can take a proactive approach, the better the outcome will be for all!

I know the winter months can present some interesting weather challenges for all of us. Will it be cold and dreary? Will it be sunny? Windy? In Kansas, one thing is for sure….the weather is always changing! I want each of our students to be safe to and from school, and of course, at school. During inclement weather days, I communicate with many different folks to make sure it is safe for school. If you ever feel like it is not safe for your child to travel to school, please feel free to keep them home on that day. It is inevitable that we will have bad weather in our area. Rest assured, student and staff safety is my number one priority in deciding to have school or not. I understand, in the event we can’t have school, it can put a burden on working parents. I apologize about this inconvenience, and hope we don’t have too many during the winter months. I appreciate your support of our schools and my decision during inclement weather days in our district.

As we enter the heart of winter, I encourage you to continue to support your child’s learning. I know the dreary days can be tough, especially when the kids can’t go outside to run off some energy! There is a silver lining about the weather in Kansas as well! Just as quick as it can turn nasty outside, it can turn beautiful and sunny! Those bright and shiny days are ahead of us, especially in the classrooms in USD #416! We have great students, families, and staff making sure great things are happening for each student in our district!
