August 2015 Superintendent Newsletter

Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family,

Welcome to the 2015-2016 School Year! I am excited about the upcoming school year and hope our students and staff share the same emotions! I hope our families had a wonderful summer break and were able to spend some quality family time together. I enjoyed seeing many of you at summer events
and visiting with you. If you are like me, it seems like it was just May! We welcome you and your families back to Louisburg Schools. We welcome the support and positive partnership you provide in our quest for bringing the best learning environment to each child. If you are a new family to our
community, we extend a warm welcome to you and hope the transition is positive. We sincerely appreciate the support our community provides our school system throughout the year. It takes everyone working together and communicating effectively to support and raise each Wildcat in our schools.

This year, we will be rolling out several new resources. These include: 1 to 1 chromebooks at LHS, Skyward student information system, new 6-12 English, math, and social studies resources, and new assessments. We are hopeful each of these helps us better educate your child and communicate with
you more effectively about academic progress. As you know, with change comes unknown issues. We ask that you continue to support us as we work through the kinks with the implementation of these new resources. Change is never a fun event, but it is something that must be done if we are going to give our children the type of education that this community expects and deserves.

Enrollment will be held on August 6th at Louisburg High School. You do not need to go to any other school. All fees and enrollment for all students will be at LHS this year. If you are able to complete all enrollment fees through Skyward, you do not need to show up on August 6th. August 19th will be our 6th
and 9th grade transition day. On August 20th, we welcome our 1st through 12th graders to school. On August 21st, we welcome our kindergartners to USD #416. Our preschool students first day is Monday, August 24th! Back to School Nights are as followed: August 17th – LMS (5:00 – 6:30 pm), August 18th – BES (5:00 – 6:30 pm), Preschool (6:00 – 7:00 pm), August 19th – 1st Grade (5:30 – 6:30 pm), 2nd Grade (6:30 – 7:30 pm), August 20th – Kindergarten (5:30 – 7:30 pm). Please check the individual schools for specific times or further information as the dates draw closer.

I wish each student the very best school year! Thanks for your continued support of our schools!

Go Wildcats!
