Superintendent Welcome Newsletter - August 2014
August 1, 2014
It is hard to believe it is August 1st! As you can see by the “Countdown” meter on our website, school will be in session soon. I hope every student had a great summer and that they are ready to go for a great 2014-2015 school year. I have just completed my first month as superintendent for this great school district. During this time, I have met many important community members, parents, and staff members. I anxiously await meeting many more and partnering with each to make the best educational partnership possible.
Enrollment will be on Tuesday, August 12th. If you are new or have not enrolled your child, please see the ad in the Louisburg Herald or our website about enrollment details. Office staff return on August 4th and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. On August 19th, we have a transition day for our 6th and 9th graders entering the middle school and high school. We want to support these students and their parents as they make this big transition in their educational journey. August 20th marks the first day of school for all grades, except Kindergarten. On August 21st, we welcome all students to the 2014-2015 school year!
The theme for this year will be Family. We want to reach out to each family and make sure that they feel welcomed in our schools. We also want our staff to know that we are family to them as they work away from their families. As in the movie, Lilo and Stitch, “Ohana” means family. As Lilo states, “Family means no one is left behind!” We want to work together to provide the needed structure, resources, and avenues of success for each child and family. I encourage you to seek out these positive relationships with each teacher and staff member so we can work together to help all achieve.
I am excited about the upcoming school year! My sons are anxious to begin the new year in Louisburg as well! I know they will have a great year and I hope each of your children will as well. If you see me out in the community or at a school event, please stop by and say hello....I would love to get to know you and your family!
