Back to School...

We would like to welcome everyone to another exciting school year.  Safety is our number one goal in transporting your children to and from school.  It is important for parents, children, the school district and the bus company to all work closely together in order to accomplish this goal.  Following are some tips that will help us with the transportation of your children:

1.       Have your children ready to board the bus.  Students should be at their designated loading point at least five minutes prior to their loading time.  This will help the driver stay on their scheduled time.

2.       It is always a good idea to know the bus number and the driver’s name.  Due to the number of students in the school district, it will help us locate your student’s bus much faster.

3.       Students may not ride home with other students unless prior arrangements have been made with the transportation office.

4.       On the days you will be picking your child up after school, please notify the school office before school dismissal.  School dismissal is a very busy and confusing time.  A parent looking for their children on busses at this time often delays our departure.

5.       Please notify the transportation office of any address, phone number, or child care changes.

6.       Please notify the transportation office on the days when your student will not be riding the bus.  Our office hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  We will dispatch this information to our drivers and this will help them to stay on schedule.

7.       After you have filled out a transportation card for your student, the driver will call you to let you know which bus the student will ride and the loading time.  If your driver has not called you by August 11th, please call our office.

During the first week or two of school, the bus schedules will vary somewhat and the times they are picked up and dropped off may change.  We expect the bus routes to be fairly stable after the first couple weeks of school.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to notify the transportation office.

Kindergarten Students

We can have one regular designated pick-up and drop-off address for your child.  You will be allowed to have one other alternative pick-up and drop-off location if you work or will not be at home.

Before dropping your kindergartner off, we must see someone come to the door.  If the driver does not see anyone at the door, he/she will assume no one is home and the student will be returned to the school.

Busses will have a picture of an animal in the window above the bus number, which will also be on a name tag for your child.  The kindergarten teachers will have the children wear these tags home for at least the first week of school.  This will help your children and the driver know your child is on the right bus.

Bus drivers have a great responsibility in transporting all of the students to and from school.  Part of that responsibility is to make sure that they check their bus after each trip to ensure that no students are left on the bus.  The drivers must also make sure that all students follow the rules of riding the bus.  The bus is considered an extension of the classroom.  All school rules apply while riding the bus.  Riding the bus is a privilege and not a right.  If a student is so disruptive that the driver cannot concentrate on driving the bus, they may be taken off the bus for a period of time and the parents will be responsible for transporting their children to and from school.  We ask that all parents do their part in cooperating with the school district and transportation department to ensure the safety of their children while on the bus.  If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call us.
