Welcome to our 8th grade Language Arts web page! This year, students will review the grammar, usage, and mechanics of the English language. They will then move into the study and use of the Six +1 Trait Writing model, in accordance with Kansas state indicators, to evaluate/improve personal and peer writing. Students will also utilize all steps of the writing process: Pre-writing, Drafting, Revising, Editing/Peer Editing, and Publishing. Writing modes covered will include narrative, expository, technical and persuasive which will be linked to literature when possible. Vocabulary and spelling skills will be integrated throughout the year.
