All LMS PE Classes will meet every other day 

(A/B schedule).  

We will cover a variety of activities while incorporating different types of plyometrics/conditioning on a daily basis.

   The 7th and 8th grade classes will utilize the weight room one day per week as well.  

 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION SYLLABUS

2016-2017

INSTRUCTORS:  Mr. Lohse and Coach A

 

CLASS GOALS

  1. To become physically and mentally fit.
  2. To learn the rules and develop the skills necessary to participate in team and certain individual sports.
  3. To develop social skills and self-discipline necessary for life-long learning.

 

CLOTHING

  1. T-shirts

-Corresponding with the student handbook (undergarments should not be visible)

-Good condition (not cut or torn up)

  1. Shorts

-Proper length

-No holes or cuts

  1. Tennis Shoes (No sandals, Dress shoes, etc…)
  2. Sweatpants and sweatshirt

 

GRADING SCALE

                The total amount of points available each semester will vary depending on the

               number of days in that semester.

 

                A= 90% and up                                                                    10 POINTS PER DAY

                B= 89% - 80%                                                                       5- Being on time and dressing out

                C= 79%-70%                                                                         3- Participation/Effort

                D= 69%-60%                                                                         2- Attitude/Cooperation/Respect

                F= 59% and lower                                                               

 

BEHAVIOR

  1. Locker Room

-Is a privilege – Don’t abuse it!! (Pick up after yourself-clothes/trash)

-No Running (Prevent injury)

-Take care of YOUR belongings (LOCK YOUR LOCKER)

-Absolutely NO glass bottles/containers in your gym locker

-Bring towels from home to shower with (Responsible for your own)

  1. Overall

-No profanity/Including in the locker room

-No fighting – KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF!!

-Good, clean competition

-Respect the rules and other classmates

-Take care of YOURSELF

 

ALL UNEXCUSED NO-DRESSES will result in a “0” for the day.  You are expected to be dressed out each day and ready to participate unless excused by a “proper note”.  Clothes are to be taken home at least every Friday if not more often.

  1.  Stay in the gym until the bell rings

-Air conditioned

-Stay out of the hall restrooms (use locker room)

-Locker rooms:

-Will be cleaned before you leave

            -Dirty locker room will equal conditioning the next class period

            -Majority of discipline problems occur in the locker room

            -If you fail to follow directions then you will be removed ASAP

            -You will be given (1) school issued pad lock (don’t lose it - $3)

   

  1. Emergency Situations (Quietly)

-FIRE (Go out main lobby doors)(if blocked, go out gym/locker room exits)

-TORNADO (Locker room or hallway by band room)

 

  1. Missing a class period

-Time can be made up by one of the following options:

*MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN ONE WEEK OF BEING ABSENT

            -Physical activity (8 laps/25 push-ups/25 sit-ups per day)

            -Written assignment (1 page per day) dealing with PE, Health, etc

-Doctor’s Note will excuse the student for the dates on the note.

-Parent’s Note will excuse the student from that day’s activity

          

  1. Expected to be ready for warm-ups no later than 4 min after the bell

 

      5.   OTHER:

            -No gum or candy in the physical education area (When you get on the tile floor)

            -Do not run down the halls

            -School property will not be tampered with (Fire alarms, AED, etc…)

            -Sub expectations!!!
