September 2019 Superintendent Newsletter
Dear USD #416 Wildcat Family,
We have had a wonderful start to the 2019-2020 school year! We appreciate your early support as we partner together for the upcoming school year. As I have visited the schools, it appears all staff and students are “Wildcat Ready!” It will soon get very busy with different school activities. I encourage you to stay on top of your child’s studies. As a parent myself, I know the challenges of trying to keep track of where your kids are coming and going! If you noticed any issues, please reach out to your child’s teacher or office staff. As always, we want to be proactive as we work together to support each student. Please don’t wait until the October parent-teacher conferences if you believe an earlier conversation needs to occur about your child.
As you may have heard, we now have a full time social worker in each school building. These student and family supports were put in place to help our students with any social-emotional issues they are dealing with throughout the year. Cortney Burdette (RES), Sara McIntire (BES), Lindsay Douglas (LMS) and Marty Southard (LHS) are all trained to help students and families when a need presents itself. Just like the academic side of schooling, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our social workers for support and advice. Not only do these four social workers have training and experience in different areas, they also are able to reach out to other outside agencies for support and resources. Our social workers are also supporting our parent and community outreach programs. The “Healthy Kids, Strong Families” events will occur throughout the school year. I encourage you to attend these events to gain more information and insight on current topics and trends.
I hope the year has been a positive start for you and your child. I look forward to visiting the schools and classrooms to see the growth that each student makes throughout the year. Thanks for your unwavering support and positive partnership!
