Strep Throat ALERT
That time of the year has approached. We are seeing an increase of strep throat making its way around in the school. Strep throat is a bacterium that can cause:
• Sore throat
• White/yellow spots in the throat
• Fever
• Swollen glands
• Headache
• Nausea
• Sometimes a fine red rash that feels like sandpaper
If your child has any of these symptoms and has been diagnosed with strep throat, they need to have taken prescribed antibiotics for 24 hours before they come back to school.
Strep throat is spread from one person to another by droplets expelled from the nose and mouth. To prevent the spread remember to cover your mouth and use a tissue when sneezing and coughing. Hand washing is the best defense against the spread of germs.
